CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT men's fencing team wrapped up the fall semester at the Carla-Mae Richards Invitational hosted by Brandeis University on Sunday. The Engineers defeated Drew University (15-12) and Lawrence University (19-8) but fell to St. John's University (20-7), Haverford College (14-13), and Cornell University (16-11).
Andy Zhang led the foil squad with a 13-2 record,
Zachary Tong powered the sabre contingent with a 10-3 total, and
Rishi Shiv paced the epee unit with a 9-6 mark.

HOW IT HAPPENED – EPEE:
- The epee team posted a 15-30 record, highlighted by a 6-3 victory against Lawrence.
- Shiv's 9-6 ledger featured 3-0 performances versus Haverford and Lawrence and a 2-1 total against Cornell.
- Alec Zhang and Michael Samuel both went 3-12. Alec Zhang had a 2-1 mark against Lawrence and picked up a victory versus Cornell. Samuel, meanwhile, registered a win against Haverford, Drew, and Lawrence.
HOW IT HAPPENED – FOIL:
- The foil team generated a 23-22 record that featured a 7-2 victory versus Lawrence and a 6-3 win against Drew.
- Andy Zhang won all three bouts against Drew, Cornell, and Lawrence while posting 2-1 marks versus St. John's and Haverford.
- Henry Zhang had 6-9 total as he defeated all three opponents from Lawrence, had a 2-1 showing against Drew, and added a win versus Cornell.
- Yehong Jiang went 4-11, producing a 2-1 mark against Haverford and notching victories versus Drew and Lawrence.
HOW IT HAPPENED – SABRE:
- The sabre team compiled a 27-18 ledger, including a 7-2 victory against Drew, a 6-3 win versus Lawrence, and 5-4 marks against St. John's and Haverford.
- Tong went 10-3 as he topped all three opponents from Drew and Lawrence, posted a 2-1 record against Haverford, and notched wins versus St. John's and Cornell.
- Surya Sakhamuri had a 9-3 performance as he produced 2-1 marks against St. John's, Drew, and Lawrence, won both of his bouts versus Haverford, and tacked on a victory against Cornell.
- Henry Smith finished at 3-1 as he earned victories against Haverford and Drew and had a 1-1 showing versus Cornell.
- Eric Wang went 5-6 as he posted a 2-1 total against St. John's, a 1-1 mark versus Drew, and registered wins against Cornell and Lawrence.
- Alexander Li fell in both of his bouts against Cornell.
