CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 12 MIT men's swimming and diving team hosted three top 25 teams, and six total, at the three-day 2025 MIT Winter Invitational over the weekend. Out of the 20 events, the Engineers won 16 events including four of five relays.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- 800 Free Relay: Grant Hu, Gidean Karp, Evan Wong, and Nathan Kim took the top spot in 6:32.35.
- 1650 Free: Mark O'Mara took the top spot in 15:36.22
- 200 Free Relay: Eric Huang, Aitor Arrese-Igor, Thomas Wu, and Bryce Roberts took second in 1:21.29.
- 200 Fly: MIT swept the top four spots led by Jason Wang with a time of 1:49.26. Nathan Zhu, Ian Sun, and Eric Huang wrapped up the top-four.
- 200 Free: Evan Wong won the event in 1:37.87.
- 100 Breast: Thomas Wu won the event in 54.72 followed by Daniel Seong, and Dominic Bollettieri.
- 100 Back: Arrese-Igor won the event in 47.81 followed by Zack West in second.
- 1-Meter Dive: Truman Remenicky took fourth with a score of 455.65
- 400 IM: The Engineers took the top-four spots led by Hu in 3:51.57. Jason Wang, Kelson Cantrell, and Ethan Fang finished 2-4.
- 50 Free: Bryce Roberts finished with a time of 20.59 for third.
- 400 Medley Relay: Arrese-Igor Wu, Roberts, and Kim took first in 3:14.09.
- 200 Medley Relay: Arrese-Igor, Wu, Roberts, and Kim completed the sweep with a winning time of 1:27.74.
- 500 Free: Hu won his second individual event, clocking in at 4:26.77. John Tietjen finished second with a time of 4:34.96.
- 200 Back: West won the event in 1:47.18.
- 100 Fly: Roberts took the win in 48.28.
- 3-Meter Diving: Remenicky finished seventh with a score of 410.80.
- 200 Breast: Seong won with a time of 2:01.01.
- 100 Free: Kim took the victory with a time of 44.63.
- 200 IM: Wang and Cantrell finished 1-2 with Wang leading the way with a time of 1:48.84 followed by Cantrell with a time of 1:49.52.
- 400 Free: Wong, Arrese-Igor, Roberts, and Kim won in 2:58.32.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Hu's lead-off leg of the 800-Free (1:36.94) is the second-fastest 200 time in program history and is the fourth fastest time in DIII. In the 400 IM he set a new school and pool record, besting this own record that he set last year. In the 500 free he also swam faster than last year's invited time.
- The 800 Relay team set a new pool record.
- O'Malley hit a B Cut time in the mile.
- Wang earned a B Cut in the 200 Fly and 200 IM.
- Wong earned an NCAA B Cut in the 200-Free and swam faster than last year's invited time.
- Wu recorded a B Cut mark in the 100 Breast.
- Arrese-Igor hit a B Cut in the 100 Back with a time faster than last year's invited time.
- The 400 and 200 Medley Relay teams swam faster than last year's invited time.
- Remenicky hit a regional score on the 1-Meter.
- West recorded a B Cut in the 200 Back.
- Roberts hit a B Cut in the 100 Fly.
- Kim swam a B Cut mark in the 100 Free.
- The 400 Free swam a NCAA B Cut time and ranks in the top-five in DIII.
