NEW ORLEANS – MIT women's cross country senior Rujuta Sane has been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Regional Athlete of the Year for the 2025 NCAA DIII Cross Country season.
Sane finished 12th at the NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships in Spartanburg, South Carolina, earning the second All-America honor of her career. The week prior, the MIT senior was the runner-up at the East Region Championships as MIT finished second in the team standings.
Sane's season also included a fourth place finish and All-Conference honors at the NEWMAC Championships, as well as a fourth place finish at the Cardinal Invitational and a ninth-place finish at the Connecticut College Invitational. Sane and this year's award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches.
