Sun, Soderbloom Lead No. 3 Men's Track & Field at Brown Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — First year Leo Sun (San Diego, Calif.) took third place in the pole vault as members of the No. 3 MIT men's track and field team competed at the Brown Invitational on Saturday at the Olney-Margolies Athletic Center.

THE BASICS:

  • Team Score: 10th of 10 (11 points)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Pole Vault: Sun and classmate Ethan Soderbloom (Stoughton, Wis.) finished third and fourth, earning the Engineers 11 points in the event. Sun had a mark of 4.45m, while Soderbloom's mark was 4.30m.
  • Shot Put: First year Gavin Reardon (Ward, Ark.) was tenth with a mark of 11.57m.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Sun matched his collegiate best with his mark of 4.45m. Soderbloom's mark was a collegiate best. Both scores were qualifying marks for next weekend's New England Division III Championships.
  • Soderbloom is now 13th in the regional rankings.

UP NEXT: 

  • MIT will compete next Friday and Saturday, February 28 and March 1, at the New England Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships at The TRACK at New Balance in Boston.
