Men's Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. — The MIT men's track & field team opened the outdoor season on Thursday, competing at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State University.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED - FIELD EVENTS

  • Javelin: Sophomore Jonah Goldstein (Pasadena, Calif.) was 15th with a mark of 56.43m.

HOW IT HAPPENED -  RUNNING EVENTS

  • 3000m Steeplechase: Junior Jacob Cobb (West Deptford, N.J.) was ninth in his heat and 37th overall with a time of 9:01.28. Senior Paul Arroyo (Richardson, Texas) finished 60th in 9:16.73.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Cobb and Arroyo hold the top two Division III times in the 3000m Steeplechase to start the spring. 
  • Goldstein is currently 20th nationally in the Javelin.
  • All three marks were New England DIII Championship qualifying marks.

NEXT UP:

  • Day two of the Raleigh Relays takes place tomorrow.
