GENEVA, Ohio – Junior Jackson Bliey (Talleyville, Del.) claimed his third straight high jump national championship to lead the MIT men's track and field team on Friday at the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute's Outdoor Track & Field facility.
Bliey repeated as the outdoor champion after winning his first indoor title in March helping MIT move into the top five in the team standings with 12 points at the end of day two. All 12 MIT points came from the high jump as sophomore Anthony Meng (Scottsdale, Ariz.) also earned All-America accolades with a tie for sixth place.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Field Events:
- High Jump: Bliey eased through the first five progressions, needing only two attempts at 2.14m (7' 0.25") to win the title. Meng needed two attempts at 2.05m (6' 8.75") but he cleared the third progression to move into the final eight. Meng was one of three competitors that did not clear at 2.08m, resulting in the three-way tie for sixth.
HOW IT HAPPENED - Track Events:
- 800m (Prelim): MIT had four entries in the 800m but did not advance any competitors to Saturday's final. Sophomore David Whitaker (Northville, Mich.) was the top finisher, taking third in heat one in 1:52.52 (1:52.511) to finish 12th overall. Senior Ziyad Hassan (Ashburn, Va.) was fifth in heat in 1:52.52 (1:52.513) to take 13th overall and senior Simon Opsahl (Redlands, Calif.): was fifth in heat one in 1:53.29 to finish 15th. Junior Charlie Glass (Austin, Texas) was seventh in the opening heat in 1:56.89, finishing in 19th overall.
- 110m Hurdles (Prelim): Senior Walter Truitt (Houston, Texas) did not finish and did not advance to tomorrow's final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- A three-time national champion, Bliey earned his third outdoor All-America nod and his fourth overall All-America.
- Meng is now a two-time first-team All-American at outdoor nationals, in all he has four All-American honors to his name.
- Whitaker, Hassan and Opsahl each earned second team All-America honors finishing inside the top 16 in the 800m. The honor is the first for Whitaker, while HAssan is now a three time All-American and Opsahl is a two-time All-American.
