No. 12 Squash Falls to No. 13 Williams, 6-3 on the Road

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – In a match-up of top-15 teams, No. 13 Williams held off the No. 12 MIT squash team to earn a 6-3 win on Friday night at the Simon Squash Center. 
 
THE BASICS:  

  • Score: Williams 6, MIT 3 
  • Records: MIT 14-5 Overall, Williams 10-7 Overall 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Dylan Scott won the first match of the day as his 3-0 win over Isaac Torchinsky-Field in ladder six, but Zachary Starr tied it up with a 3-0 win in the seventh position over Anden Boulan. 
  • The Ephs extended their lead with a 3-1 win in No. 4, and they earned their fourth win with a 3-0 win in the second ladder.  
  • John Gunton got the Engineers their second win with a 3-1 victory over Alex Akbari in the third slot, 3-11, 14-12, 8-11, 10-12. 
  • Williams clinched the match with wins in positions five and eight. They also earned a win in the ninth. 
  • Hyun Su Price ended the evening with a 3-2 victory in the top position over Nick Agger. Su Price took dropped the opening set 9-11 before winning the next two sets. Agger pulled even with an 11-4 win in the fourth, but Su Price held on for a 13-11 win in the decisive frame. 

UP NEXT:  

  • MIT will head to the CSA Divisional Team Championships at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia, Pa. The competition will run from February 27 - March 1.
