WEST POINT, N.Y. – The MIT rifle team claimed second place at the NCAA Championship Qualifier hosted by Army-West Point on Saturday. The Black Knights took the top spot with 4,686 points, followed by MIT (4,470), and Norwich University (4,374). In the individual aggregate standings,
Eleanor Yang ranked seventh with a total of 1,150 points which is a personal best.

HOW IT HAPPENED - SMALLBORE:
- Army compiled 2,323 points, followed by MIT (2,185) and Norwich (2,150).
- The Black Knights claimed the top five spots as Yang placed sixth with a score of 570.
- William Knowlton ranked 12th (545 points) while Danny Antonelli was two spots behind him with 543 points.
- Spruce Campbell finished in 18th place (527 points) as Avaneesh Pal (513 points) and Helena Dimiati (507 points) were 21st and 22nd, respectively.
- Yang and Dimiati both set personal records.
HOW IT HAPPENED – AIR RIFLE:
- Army generated 2,363 points, followed by MIT (2,285) and Norwich (2,224).
- For the second year in a row, Yang finished in eighth place as she shot a 580.
- Antonelli and Knowlton took the next two slots with a score of 571, however, Antonelli had a 26-25 edge in centers.
- Phoebe Xu placed 13th with a total of 563 as Pal (520 points) and Dimiati (514 points) ranked 21st and 22nd, respectively.
- Antonelli recorded a personal best.
UP NEXT:
- MIT will host the Mid-Atlantic Rifle Conference Championship on Saturday, February 28 and Sunday, March 1. The smallbore competition will begin on Saturday at 12:00 PM while air rifle will be held on Sunday starting at 9:30 AM.
