No. 8 Women's Soccer Plays NYU to 0-0 Draw

NEWARK, N.J. – The No. 8 MIT women's soccer team played NYU to a 0-0 tie on Saturday afternoon at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.  
 
THE BASICS: 

  • Score: MIT 0, NYU 0 
  • Records: MIT (1-0-1 Overall), NYU (1-0-1 Overall) 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The teams played a scoreless first 45 minutes with the Violets holding a slight 4-3 advantage in shots on target.  
  • Amara Ukomadu and Chloe Dai put back-to-back shots on cage late in the first, but both were saved by Maddy Tohanczyn. 
  • NYU put the pressure on in the second half, outshooting MIT 10-3 as the put half of the shots on target. 
  • Maddy Noll made back-to-back game saving saves in the final minutes to secure the 0-0 tie. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • This is the first 0-0 tie for MIT since the Second Round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament when the Engineers and Williams played 110 minutes of scoreless soccer. The Engineers also played WPI to a 0-0 tie earlier that season. 
  • Noll made nine saves while Tohanczyn made five. 

UP NEXT: 

  • The Engineers are back at Roberts Field on Tuesday, September 8 as they welcome Lesley for a 7:00 PM contest. The Violets will host Stevens on Wednesday, September 9 at 7:00 PM.
