AT MIT

Matt Breen is beginning his fifteenth year as part of the Physical Education and Wellness staff of DAPER in 2026-27. His duties include serving as an instructor for beginner and intermediate level courses for individual and team sports, fitness, as well as health and wellness courses. His responsibilities also involve equipment purchasing and management for all physical education courses along with assisting in a variety of administrative duties during peak times in physical education.

BEFORE MIT

Prior to joining the MIT staff, Breen was a member of the staff at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York, where he served as a physical education instructor from 2004-2012. While there he created lesson plans, syllabi, research assignments, and examinations to administer to classes consisting of up to 30 students and evaluated student progress using fitness assessment and skill testing.

OTHER EXPERIENCES

Breen also assisted in the development and creation of a new textbook offered for Introduction to Physical Education courses through McGraw-Hill Higher Education Create.

EDUCATION

Breen completed his Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in 2000 and a Master of Education in Physical Education from Springfield College in 2003. While a student at MCLA, he participated on the baseball team and then served as a graduate associate for the baseball team at Springfield College.

FAMILY LIFE

Breen enjoys traveling with his family and playing golf in his free time.
