MIT Welcomes Nick Kaltenbronn as Athletic Trainer

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Dr. G. Anthony Grant, Director of Athletics and DAPER Department Head, has officially announced the hiring of Nick Kaltenbronn, MS, ATC as an Athletic Trainer at MIT.

Kaltenbronn joins MIT from nearby Northeastern University, where he has worked as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Huskies since 2021, coordinating care for the women's soccer program, as well as the women's basketball team, men's soccer team and the track and field teams. At Northeastern, Kaltenbronn both developed and oversaw the athletes to watch and return to sports systems in the Huskies athletic training room. He was also responsible for monitoring inventory of medical supplies, managing work-study students and the mentorship of student learners from the athletic training and physical therapy programs.

Prior to his time at Northeastern, Kaltenbronn was an Athletic Trainer at Boston University during the 2019-20 academic year, coordinating care for a wide variety of patients across varsity and club athletics while in collaboration with team physicians, staff athletic trainers, coaches, and strength & conditioning for patient care.

Kaltenbronn has spent the last five years at the Division I collegiate level but his experience includes everything from high school to professional sports. Prior to his time at BU, Kaltenbronn worked at the Head Athletic Trainer at Peabody High School and Coginchaug High School as well as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at LIU Brooklyn. He also provides Athletic Training services for NBA Officials at Boston Celtics home games through his work with Select Physical Therapy and he previously completed an internship for the Georgetown University Athletic Department.

Kaltenbronn is a certified athletic trainer (ATC), as well as a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS), a corrective exercise specialist (CES) and a performance enchantment specialist (PES). He earned his degree in Athletic Training from Eastern Illinois University in 2013, where his undergraduate training included an internship with Major League Baseball's Chicago Cubs, before going to earn his Masters in Exercise Science from LIU Brooklyn in 2016.
